Richard Fuld is an American banker who has a net worth of $250 million. Richard “Dick” Fuld, was born in New York City, NY in April 1946. He is best known as the final Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lehman Brothers.

He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder and received his M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 1973. He participated in Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and became an Air Force pilot. In 1969 Fuld started at Lehman Brothers as a commercial trader. He became CEO of Lehman Brothers in 1994 and held the position until the company filed for bankruptcy in 2008.

He joined hedge fund Matrix Advisors in 2009. In 2010 he joined Legend Securities but left in 2012.

Compensation: During his time at Lehman, Dick Fuld was awarded around $900 million in potential compensation (mostly stock). He cashed out a reported $530 million of his various forms of compensation before the company went bust. At his peak, his stock in Lehman Brothers combined with his other assets made him briefly a billionaire. Lehman’s bankruptcy wiped whatever shares he still held and any unvested shares.

He received a $22 million bonus in 2006. In 2007 he received $34 million. In 2008 (prior to the crash) he received $40.5 million.

Personal Life and Real Estate: Richard Fuld has been married to Kathleen Ann Bailey since 1978. They have three children.

In 2004, Dick and Kathleen paid $13.75 million for a home in Jupiter, Florida. The home sits on 3.3 acres and has 265 feet of ocean frontage. The home itself is just under 15,000 square-feet. In the wake of Lehman’s 2008 bankruptcy, he transferred the mansion fully to his wife for $100 to protect it from potential legal actions. They listed this home for sale in early 2021 for $40 million. In May 2021 it was revealed that they had accepted $32.5 million.
