Andrew “Andy” Grove was an American-Hungarian businessman, engineer and writer who had a an estimated net worth in the range of 500 million dollars. Andrew Stephen Grove was born in Budapest, Hungary in September 1936. Grove was an early scientist who was a pioneer within the science field referred to in the field of semiconductors. When he was just 20 years old, He escaped the Communist-controlled Hungary. He emigrated into America. United States and finished his studies, receiving a bachelor’s degree from the City College of New York as well as an Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. He was then an engineer for Fairchild Semiconductor. He soon became acquainted in integrated circuits. He was a part of Intel at the time of its first day of incorporation. He was later promoted to the CEO for Intel Corporation and was a pioneer in making Intel one of the largest semiconductor producers. Grove wrote several books and numerous articles. Grove has been dubbed the person responsible for the rapid growth in Silicon Valley. Grove was even consulted to Steve Jobs for advice on whether or whether Jobs should be allowed to return to Apple. Grove received numerous awards throughout his time, such as his 1st Annual Heinz Award in Technology and economics and Employment. In 2009, he was inducted into the California Museum’s California Hall of Fame. He was awarded the IEEE Medal of Honor, the Strategic Management Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award, was the Time Magazine’s Man of the Year, and much more. He was still an advisor to senior executives at Intel until the time of his death. Grove had been diagnosed as having Parkinson’s in the year 2000. He was a contributor to several foundations researching ways to treat the disease. Andrew got married to Eva Kastan in 1958 and they had two children together. Andy Grove died on March 21 of this year at Los Altos, California.
