He also witnessed the death of Charity Burbage, his Muggle Studies teacher. Draco was overcome with grief when he realized that the murder was not the best choice.
When Voldemort asks him if he knows who the woman is, he shakes his head jerkily in surprise. This tells us that he is uncomfortable looking at the suffering of others. Later, when Charity Burbage is killed by Voldemort, he falls out of his seat in shock. This is an excellent example of the power that Voldemort has over Draco.
Draco’s change of heart
The wand core of Draco’s wand has a unicorn in it. It was a fitting symbol for his good heart, since until his father’s death, Draco had lived a relatively carefree life. In spite of this, he still sought to reestablish his family’s high status. He even attended the funeral of his friend Fred Weasley, setting flowers at the tombstone. Later, Draco apologized to Fred, though he didn’t know his brother George was watching.
In the end, Draco’s redemption arc is a much-needed one for this character. He gives Harry his wand when his bird dies, realizing that his future wasn’t in Voldemort’s world, and he redeemed himself by not ratting on Harry in the Malfoy manor. But his change of heart was not based in his own self-interest.
Hermione’s secret crush on Draco
The first time we saw Draco Malfoy kissing Hermione Granger was during the Yule Ball. When she was about to go to the loo, she was distracted by Harry, who rushed to help Hermione. Draco told Hermione he wanted her. Hermione, who was ecstatic, stepped aside, begging to continue their kiss. Draco’s actions were untimely, as she was rescued from the ravaging fire by Ron and Hermione.
Hermione had a crush on Draco, and this began when the two of them were partnered to spy on Ron. She also had a crush on Ron Weasley, and Draco was jealous of his fame, and he used this to bully Hermoine. Hermione eventually realized that Draco’s behavior was unworthy of his friendship with Ron and her.
