In 2019 she announced she was seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2020 United States presidential election. From 1990 to 1998 she was a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California. Some of her stances include supporting Medicare for all, sanctuary cities, the legalization of recreational marijuana, lower taxes for the working and middle class, and passing a DREAM Act.
