Tan Siok Tjien is an Indonesian business woman who has a net worth of $8 billion. Tan Siok Tjien is listed as the richest woman in Indonesia. Tjien and her five children control the second largest cigarette manufacturer in the country. Tan’s late husband founded the company Gudang Garam which produces clove cigarettes and other tobacco related products.
The company owns one fifth of the cigarette market in Indonesia. In 1990 they were the largest payer of taxes in the country. In 2013 Gudang Garam sold 76.6 billion cigarettes. In 1985 Tan inherited the company and fortune when her husband passed away. Her sun Susilo Wonowidjojo became the President of Gudang Garam in 2009.
