Sudhir Ruparelia is a Ugandan businessman and entrepreneur who has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Sudhir Ruparelia was born in Mengo, Uganda in January 1956. Ruparelia is the Chairman and majority shareholder in the companies that make up the Ruparelia Group. He has investments in many areas including education, insurance, banking, real estate, broadcasting, and hotels and resorts.
Ruparelia has been named as the wealthiest person in Uganda. It has been said that he owns half of the buildings in Kampala which he has denied. He does admit that he owns a fourth of the buildings in Kampala’s Central Business District. Sudhir moved to the United Kingdom at 16 and then returned to Uganda in 1985.
