Shane McConkey was a Canadian professional skier and BASE jumper who had a net worth of $500 thousand. Shane McConkey was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in December 1969 and passed away in March 2009. Shane started out as a competitive ski racer before getting into extreme skiing.
He was known for combining BASE jumping with skiing. He also contributed to ski design and designed the reverse sidecut and reverse camber skis. Shane’s father Jim McConkey is considered to be the father of extreme skiing. Shane was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2011. In 2001 Shane was named the ESPN Action Sport Awards Skier of the Year and ranked #1 in Skiing Magazine’s Top 25 skiers in North America. He was ranked #1 in Powder Magazine’s Readers Poll in 2002 and 2005 and won their Full Throttle Award in 2004 and 2005. McConkey was also featured in many skiing videos. Shane McConkey passed away on March 26, 2009 at the age of 39 in a skiing accident in Italy.
