Rick Carlisle is an American professional basketball coach and former professional basketball player who has a net worth of $8 million. Rick Carlisle was born in Ogdensburg, New York in October 1959. Carlisle was a guard who played at Lisbon Central High School, the University of Maine, and the University of Virginia.

He was drafted #70 by the Boston Celtics in the 1984 draft and played there from 1984 to 1987. In 1987 he played for the Albany Patroons of the CBA and joined the New York Knicks from 1987 to 1988 and the New Jersey Nets from 1988 to 1989. Carlisle stayed on with the Nets as an assistant coach from 1989 to 1994. He then served as an assistant for the Portland Trail Blazers from 1994 to 1997 and the Indiana Pacers from 1997 to 2000. Carlisle got his first head coaching job with the Detroit Pistons from 2001 to 2003. He coached the Indiana Pacers from 2003 to 2007 and became head coach of the Dallas Mavericks in 2008. Carlisle is one of only 11 people to win an NBA Championship as a player (1986) and a coach (2011). He was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2002 and coached the NBA All-Star Game in 2004.
