Born in 1963 in San Francisco, California, Pete Najarian grew up in Minnesota and played linebacker for the Golden Gophers, earning All Big-Ten second-team honors three times. Najarian played professional football with the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Buy Buccaneers for three seasons before entering the options trading business in the early ’90s. Najarian finished his NFL career with six career starts and a fumble recovery as a linebacker. Within eight years, Najarian became president of Mercury Trading at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He stayed in that role until 2004. Four years later, he and his brother founded tradeMONSTER, an online brokerage that competes with OptionsXpress Holdings, Inc. Najarian is a frequent contributor to “Fast Money” on CNBC and was hired by ESPN as a commentator for college football games in 2013. He is the father of two children.
