Paul McCarthy is an American contemporary artist who has a net worth of $5 million. Paul McCarthy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in August 1945. He studied art at the University of Utah, Weber State University, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of Southern California.

McCarthy taught at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1982 to 2002. His work is somewhat similar to Happenings founder Allan Kaprow and McCarthy is interested in everyday activities and the mess they create. His works include installation, performance, sculpture, and film. Some of his best known works include Sailor’s Meat in 1975, The Garden and Bossy Burger in 1991, and Tree in 2014. Tree caused a controversy which led to McCarthy being assaulted and the sculpture was vandalized just two days after the installation in the Place Vendome in Paris. His work has been exhibited in New York, London, Munich, Stockholm, Antwerp, Ghent, and Warsaw.
