Otto Happel is a German entrepreneur who has a net worth of $3.3 billion. Born on 9 February 1948, in Bochum, Germany, Happel is an only heir of his father Otto Happel Sr., a founder of GEA Happel. After the death of his father, his mother Elizabeth took over the company, and in 1975, the management was given to Happel.
In 1999, he sold the company to Metallgesellschaft (MG) for $1 billion, but he kept an interest of 21% in the combined group. Six years later, the company was renamed into GEA Group, and the next year, Happel sold the rest of his shares for $630 million.
