Nate Berkus is an American interior designer and daytime television host who has a net worth of $18 million. Nate Berkus was born on September 17, 1971 in Orange County, California, but he was raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota. He started working in design immediately after leaving high school and interned at Dominique Aurientis in Paris and Sotheby’s in Chicago. He graduated from Lake Forest College in 1994 with degrees in French and Sociology. After college, Nate took a full time job at Leslie Hindman’s auction house before beginning his own Chicago-based company. In 1995 he founded the company, Nate Berkus Associates. He is a Chicago-based interior decorator whose many appearances on television have made him a national celebrity. He has appeared many times on the Home and Garden and Do It Yourself cable channels, and is a regular on Oprah Winfrey’s daytime talk show.

He has won many awards and commendations during his career including: Chicago Social Magazine Design Director 2000, House Beautiful’s Next Wave Design Talent 2003, and Craine Business Magazine’s 40 Under 40 To Watch 2003. He named Design Editor of Chicago Social Magazine in 2000. He received of the Vox/Out 2002 Design and Style Award for his contribution to American design. In November 2005 Hyperion Books published his book Home Rules. In 2005, he began selling his merchandise at Linens ‘n Things stores throughout North America. He was the host of the short-lived reality show Oprah’s Big Give, which premiered March 2, 2008, but the series ended on April 20 that same year. He is the executive producer of the 2011 film “The Help.” His former partner, Fernando Bengoechea, was killed when the tsunami hit Sri Lanka in December 2004. The couple was vacationing there at the time.
