Michael Chow is an actor, interior designer and restaurateur who has a net worth of $300 million dollars. Born in Shanghai, China, Michael Chow grew up in a family of actors. His father was a performer with the Peking Opera and his sister was a film actor, most famous for playing one of the Bond girls. He went away to boarding school in the UK when he was in elementary school, and subsequently moved to London to study art. Always interested in business, he opened a hair salon with Robin Sutherland called, Smith and Hawes. They later sold the salon to famed hairdresser Leonard of Grosvenor Square. Then they opened a restaurant called, Mr. Chow Restaurant. The restaurant served Chinese food, but the menu and wait staff, were more in keeping with European traditions of service. The first location opened in 1968, and was almost instantly popular. Since then, more locations have opened, including three restaurants in London, and multiple shops in New York, Las Vegas, Miami, and Beverly Hills.

Michael Chow’s house and art collection: In 1991, Michael and his wife Eva purchased a property on South Mapleton Drive in Holmby Hills for $3.5 million. That’s the same as around $6.5 million in 2018 dollars. Over seven years, finishing around 2000, the couple built a 30,000 square foot mansion modeled after the Reina Sofia museum in Madrid. That’s fitting because Michael and Eva own an extremely impressive contemporary art and furniture collection. In October 2018, they listed the house for sale for $78 million. Nearby neighbors include the Playboy Mansion, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Jimmy Iovine and Diddy.
