Maurice Starr Net Worth, Career, Biography, Facts, Age, Life Story

Maurice Starr is an American musician, writer, producer and boy band impresario who has a net worth of $80 million dollars. Born in DeLand, Florida, Maurice Starr, also known as Larry Johnson, grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He first began to gain attention in the 70s, performing with his group, The Johnson Brothers, and then as part of the Jonzun Crew.

He attempted to launch a solo career in the early 80s with the release of two albums, “Flaming Starr” and “Spacey Lady”, but found little success. While hosting his own talent show, he was introduced to a group called, New Edition. With New Edition, he wrote and produced multiple hit songs, but differences between the group members ultimately led to everyone going their separate ways. He then put together a second boy band, this time with all white members, called, New Kids on the Block. New Kids on the Block went on to be massively successful throughout the late 80s and 90s, and he won Songwriter of the Year honors in 1989. Maurice produced the band’s early albums and wrote nearly all of the band’s songs throughout their career. New Kids would go on to sell more than 80 million albums worldwide.
