Low Tuck Kwong is an Indonesian billionaire who has a net worth of $1.7 billion. Low Tuck Kwong got his start in the business world as an employee at his father’s construction company in Singapore. Then in 1972, he moved to Indonesia where he founded his coal-mining company Bayan Resources Group, which gone public in 2008.

Ever since he saw his stock prices triple and thus the major portion of his fortune came from his coal-mining company, Bayan Resources Group mainly operating in East Kalimantan. Apart from the coal mining group, he has stakes in Singapore Health Partners and Singapore-listed Manhattan Resources. As an animal lover, he owns a zoo, which is located in Borneo and shelters dozens of animals including gibbons, sun bears, and peacocks. He also rehabilitates orangutans for reintroduction to the wild.
