Born in Hamburg, Germany, Klaus-Michael Kuhne inherited Kuhne + Nagel AG from his grandfather. The company was founded in 1890 and focuses on transportation and logistics. Klaus-Michael Kuhne serves as executive chairman, and has also served as honorary chairman of the Board of Directors since the 1970s. He is the majority owner of Kuhne + Nagel, and currently holds 53% of the company. He is also part of the Albert Ballin KG group, a group of investors who joined together in an effort to keep one of Germany’s oldest shipping companies, Hapag Lloyd, from leaving the country.
