He is the Chairman of the company known as SQM in Chile. Julio Ponce was fined $70 million in 2014 for the illegal trading of stocks. He served as president of a Chilean state owned forestry company and president of a wood pulp company named CELCO. Ponce is the former son-in-law of the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.
