From 2007 to 2013 Bishop was the Deputy Leader of the Opposition. She has served as the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party since 2007 and as the Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2013. In September 2015 she retained her role as Deputy Leader when Prime Minister Tony Abbott was replaced by Malcolm Turnbull.
