Jose Isaac Peres is a Brazilian entrepreneur who has a net worth of $1.5 billion. Born in 1941 in Rio de Janeiro, Peres is the founder of Multiplan, a Brazil’s chain of shopping malls. While he was still studying at Universidade do Brasil, he launched his first company, Vepan, a real estate firm, at the age of 22.
After series of remarkable property deals, Peres started Multiplan in 1975. Currently, the shopping mall developer manages about 17 malls across Brazil, and in 2013, it has boosted Peres’s fortune by $400 million thanks to the rise of the stock price. Now, Peres serves as its CEO and Chairman, who owns the controlling stake. Moreover, he is one of the founders of the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (ABRASCE), as well as of the Association of Managers of Real Estate Companies.
