Crombie made his acting debut in 1985 in the TV mini-series Anne of Green Gables. In 1988 he starred as Rob Valeur in the television series Mount Royal. From 1999 to 2000 Crombie starred as Hudson James in the TV series Power Play. From 2003 to 2005 he had a recurring role in the series Slings and Arrows. From 2004 to 2010 he voiced the role of Benjamin Bear in the television series The Secret World of Benjamin Bear. Crombie starred in the movies A Judgement in Stone, Bullies, The Jeweller’s Shop, Café Romeo, and Cottage Country. He was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for Television – Writing – Episode or Special in 2000. Crombie directed, produced, and wrote the 2015 documentary Waiting for Ishtar. Jonathan Crombie passed away on April 15, 2015 from a brain hemorrhage at 48 years old.
