John Utendahl is an American businessman who has a net worth of $500 million. John Utendahl was born in Queens, New York in 1956. He is the owner of the Utendahl Group which is one of the largest African-American owned investment banking groups in the U.S. He graduated from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus and also earned his MBA from Columbia University. He worked for Salomon and Merrill Lynch as a bond trader. Until it went out of business, he ran the most successful investment bank run by a minority in the United States. In 2010 Utendahl Capital partners went out of business. John owns a minority stake-holder in Utendahl Capital Management. He became Vice Chairman of Deutsche Bank Americas in March 2010. He is also well known for his previous relationship with Tyra Banks. He has two daughters from a previous marriage to Phyllis Hollis. He serves on the boards for the Hope program for the homeless, as well as the Pratt Institute.
