John Landis is an American film director, actor, producer and screenwriter who has a net worth of $150 million. John Landis has earned his net worth through his work on many films, music videos and television series. Some of his most notable films include The Blues Brothers, Animal House, An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, Coming To America and the Three Amigos. Landis also directed music videos such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller, BB King’s My Lucille, as well as Paul McCartney’s Spies Like Us. John Landis was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1950. His father Martin Landis was an interior designer and decorator. The family moved to Los Angeles when he was only four months old. When he was only eight years old he was so impressed with the film, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, that he decided right then that he wanted to make movies when he grew up. As his first job he worked at 20th Century Fox as a mail boy and later became an assistant director in Hollywood. His first directing endeavor, “Schlock” was not a big hit, but six years later he directed Kentucky Fried Movie, which paved the way for his very successful directing career. During the filming of Twilight Zone in 1982, Vic Morrow and two children actors were killed in a helicopter accident. Landis and several of his crew members stood trial for involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment, but were acquitted of all charges. In 1982 he directed his first documentary, Coming Soon.

In 2008 John Landis won an Emmy Award for the filming of the documentary Mr. Warmth; The Don Rickles Project. John has been married to Deborah Nadoolman Landis since 1980. She is a costume designer who has served two terms as President of The Costume Designers Guild. They have two children, Rachel, a school teacher, and Max Landis a writer of the films, Amnesty and Chronicle.
