He is best known for being the founder and CEO of Morningstar, Inc. Mansueto graduated from the University of Chicago and earned his Bachelor’s and MBA degrees.
He started Morningstar out of his home in 1984 for $80,000. Morningstar is an investment research and management firm that is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The company went public in 2005 and in 2013 their revenue was just shy of $700 million. In 2005 Mansueto purchased the financial magazines Fast Company and Inc. As of 2008 he owned more than 60% of common stock in Morningstar. He invested in Wrapports which purchased the Chicago Sun-Times in 2011.
