He is best known for being the founder of the band Survivor. Peterik wrote the hit song “Vehicle” for the Ides of March and has co-written songs for artists such as Cheap Trick, 38 Special, Blackhawk, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys, Sammy Hagar, and REO Speedwagon.

Survivor was formed in Chicago in 1978. They are best known for their 2x Platinum hit single “Eye of the Tiger” which was featured in the movie Rocky III. The band released their self-titled debut studio album in 1980. Their ninth studio album Reach was released in 2006. “Eye of the Tiger” reached #1 on the Billboard 200, US Mainstream, Australian, and UK charts. Survivor also had #1 singles with the songs “I Can’t Hold Back” and “The Search Is Over”. Peterik is the front man for the rock band Pride of Lions as well as his smooth jazz project Jim Peterik’s Lifeforce. In addition to singing he also plays guitar, keyboards, and ukulele.
