He is best known for being the bass player for the heavy metal band Judas Priest. The band formed in 1969 and released their debut studio album Rocka Rolla in 1974 and their second album Sad Wings of Destiny in 1976.

Their next three albums Sin After Sin in 1977, Stained Class in 1978, and Killing Machine in 1978 all reached Gold in the US. Judas Priest’s album British Steel was released in 1980 and reached #4 in the UK and #6 in Denmark. They also had success with the albums Point of Entry in 1981, Screaming for Vengeance in 1982, Defenders of the Faith in 1984, Turbo in 1986, Ram It Down in 1988, Painkiller in 1990, Jugulator in 1997, Demolition in 2001, Angel of Retribution in 2005, Nostradamus in 2008, and Firepower in 2018. Their 2014 album Redeemer of Souls was their most successful in the US reaching #6 and It was also their first album to reach #1 in any country which was Finland.
