Huang Maoru is a Chinese businessman who has a net worth of $1.1 billion dollars. Born in China to citizens of Belize, Huang Maoru, is that country’s richest citizen, though he is based in Shenzhen, China. He founded Maoye International, the most popular department store in Shenzhen, as well as in surrounding areas, such as Sichuan, Chongqing, and Jiangsu.
Due to concerns about Hong Kong’s fiscal stability, the company’s shares have dropped in value. However, the company itself has managed to grow exponentially, and overall sales for the various locations have increased by more than 50%. The various stores brought in $532 million in 2011, resulting in a profit of $102 million, an 11% increase from the previous year. Huang Jingzhang, Huang Maoru’s wife, is also co-owner of the company. She served as Director until 2010, but has since stepped down. Huang Maoru functions as CEO, and has done so since the company’s launch in 1996.
