Henry Hillman was an American businessman who had a net worth of $2.5 billion at the time of his death in 2017. That net worth made him one of the richest people in Pennsylvania when he was living. A resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Henry Hillman inherited his father’s company, Pittsburgh Coke & Chemical.

He expanded the company, investing in a range of things, including real estate, venture capital opportunities, and private equity. Many of his gambles paid off, including his investment in the very successful venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He was also the former owner of the PPG Palace in Pittsburgh. His father launched The Hillman Foundation in the early 50s, and he began expanding it in the mid-60s. The Hillman Foundation is now made up of 18 smaller foundations spread out around the country, all run by members of the Hillman family. He donated a large sum to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Center, and he was also the primary philanthropist behind a transportation efficiency project, called Traffic21, at Carnegie-Mellon University. Henry Hillman died on April 14, 2017 at the age of 98.
