He is best known for being the lead guitarist and background vocalist for the band The Cars. Easton studied at the Berklee College of Music and is a left-handed guitarist.

He has also played for The New Cars and Creedence Clearwater Revisited. The Cars formed in 1976 and broke up in 1988 before reforming in 2010. Their self-titled debut studio album was released in 1978 and reached #18 on the Billboard 200 chart and was 6x multi-platinum. The Cars also had success with their albums Candy-O in 1979, Panorama in 1980, Shake It Up in 1981, Heartbeat City in 1984, Door to Door in 1987, and Move Like This in 2011.
