Dewey Tomko Net Worth, Career, Biography, Facts, Age, Life Story

Dewey Tomko is an American professional poker player who has a net worth of $15 million dollars. Born in Glassport, Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh in 1946, Dewey Tomko picked up poker in local pool halls where he played as a teenager. He used his poker earnings to pay his way through school and once he graduated, Tomko got a job as a kindergarten teacher by day and continued playing cards by night.

He left teaching to turn pro in poker after noticing the sizable income gap between the two professions, winning his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 1979. He won back-to-back bracelets five years later and has appeared in every WSOP Main Event since 1974. Tomko has been to two final tables and has five money finishes as of 2010. He’s well known for finishing second in the WSOP $10,000 no-limit Texas hold’em event in 1982 and 2001, as runner-up to Jack Straus and Carlos Mortensen. In 2008, he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. In addition to cards, Tomko is an avid golfer who hits the links with fellow poker stars Doyle Brunson and Hilbert Shirey. His golf exploits are featured in sports columnist Rick Reilly’s book, “Who’s Your Caddy”. Tomko is married to his wife, Marianella, has three children, and lives in Winter Haven, Florida. His son, Derek, is also a professional poker player.
