Dermot Desmond is an Irish businessman and financier who has a net worth of $2 billion. Dermot Desmond made his career beginnings at Citibank, before taking on position, briefly, as a banking consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Afghanistan. In 1981, he founded NCB Stockbrokers, which eventually became the largest independent brokerage in Ireland.
However, in 1994 Desmond sold NCB for $39 million, and he set up his own private equity firm, International Investment & Underwriting. As for his current investments, they include biometrics company Daon, Mountain Province Diamonds, Barchester Healthcare, and Glasgow soccer club Celtic PLC.
