David Gates is an American singer-songwriter and producer who has a net worth of $3 million. David Gates was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in December 1940. He is best known for being the lead singer of the band Bread. Bread formed in 1968 in Los Angeles, California.
The band was active until 1973, and then again from 1976 to 1978 and from 1996 to 1997. Bread had 13 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They released their self-titled debut studio album in 1969 on Elektra records. Bread’s second album On the Waters was released in 1970 and reached #12 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band released a total of six studio albums including Baby I’m-a Want You in 1972 which reached #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Their single “Make It with You” reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Gates and Bread have been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. He has also released eight solo albums.
