Danny Simmons is an American abstract expressionist painter who has a net worth of $20 million. Danny Simmons is the older brother of Russell Simmons and rapper Joseph Simmons who is better known as Reverend Run of Run-D.M.C.

Danny Simmons is the co-founder and Chairman of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation and Rush Arts Gallery. Simmons and his brother Russell established Def Poetry Jam which has been featured on HBO. He published the book Three Days As the Crow Flies in 2004 and has also authored the artwork and poetry book I Dreamed My People Were Calling But I Couldn’t Find My Way Home. Simmons earned a degree from New York University and a master’s degree from Long Island University. He worked for the Bureau of Child Support and then began painting. His work has been featured in collections at Chase Manhattan Bank, the Schomburg Center for Black Culture, and the United Nations. He is credited as the co-executive producer of Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry.
