Christopher Paul Curtis is an American writer of children’s books who has a net worth of $10 million. Christopher Paul Curtis was born in Flint, Michigan in May 1953. Curtis’ best known works include Bud, Not Buddy and The Watson Go to Birmingham – 1963. After graduating high school he joined the theatrical and musical group Suitcase Theater which performed around the world.

Curtis later went back to graduate from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2000. He worked for 13 years on an assembly line in Flint’s Fisher Body Plant #1. His first published book was The Watsons Go to Birmingham – 1963 in 1996. It was a runner-up for the Newbery Medal and was named one of the New York Public Library’s 100 Great Children’s Books of the Last 100 Years. His next book was Bud, Not Buddy published in 1999. The book won the Newbery Medal in 2000 as well as the Coretta Scott King Award. He published Bucking the Sarge in 2004 and Mr. Chickee’s Messy Mission in 2008. His 2007 work Mr. Chickee’s Funny Monkey was a Parents’ Choice Award winner. 2007’s Elijah of Buxton won the Coretta Scott King Award and was runner-up for the Newbery Medal. The Mighty Miss Malone was published in 2012 and The Madman of Piney Woods was released in 2014.
