Chan Laiwa Net Worth, Career, Biography, Facts, Age, Life Story

Chan Laiwa is a Chinese entrepreneur who has a net worth of $6.1 billion. Born in 1941 in Summer Palace of Beijing, China, she made her fortune in the real estate business. Today, Laiwa’s Fuwah International Group, where she still serves as a Chairwoman, is one of Beijing’s largest commercial property developers.

This makes her one of the nineteen self-made female billionaires worldwide. Even though a descendant of a noble Manchu family of the Yellow Banner Clan, her notable family collapsed at the time of her birth and she grew up in poverty. Low living conditions made Chan leave high school to start her own furniture repair business. She decided to translate her early furniture-business success in Hong Kong in the early 1980s. Having built up enough money to buy 12 villas, she got back to Beijing by the end of the decade to expand her real estate business. At the start of the 1990s, she set up Fuwah International Group, which spreads its activities from real estate to various other fields like agriculture, tourism, electronics, hospitality and red sandalwood art production. Most recently, she handed over the daily management to her son, in order to concentrate more on her China Red Sandalwood Museum, in which she is also the curator. Furthermore, Chan Laiwa established herself as one of the cultural diplomats of China.
