He earned his J.D. from the University of Buenos Aires. Carlos joined his family company Bridas Corporation which one of the biggest private firms in the Argentine energy sector.

Carlos and his older brother Alejandro gained a controlling stake in Bridas in 1985 when their father Alejandro passed away. Carlos Bulgheroni was named president and chairman of the company in 1993. He became the president of PanAmerican Energy in 1997 and of Allis-Chalmers in 2006. Carlos Bulgheroni co-founded the Colon Theatre Foundation in 1978 and the Federal District Police Foundation in 1989. He served as a co-chairman of the International Committee at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Carlos and Alejandro Bulgheroni sold a 50% stake in Bridas to CNOOC for $3.1 billion in 2010.
