He competed from 1974 to 1990 and achieved the rank of 10th dan black belt Soke. Wallace was a Professional Karate Association world full-contact karate champion.

For nearly six years he held the Professional Karate Association Middleweight Championship. He won the PKA Middleweight World title in only his second fight in 1974. He defended that championship 11 times over the years before retiring with 23 wins and 0 losses. Bill Wallace has also written several books including The Best of Bill Wallace, Competitive Karate: Featuring the Superfoot System, The Ultimate Kick, Dynamic Kicking & Stretching, and Karate: Basic Concepts & Skills. Wallace served as a personal trainer and was also a close friend of both John Belushi and Elvis Presley and found Belushi dead in his hotel room.
