He co-created the DC Comics character Batman with Bob Kane. While Finger was alive he was not credited for helping develop the Batman character, but Kane acknowledged the fact after his passing.

After his passing he was inducted into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.
