As a child she moved to Canada. Mahood was a part of the female trio Lace and co-hosted the television series Breakfast Television from 2004 to 2005.

She has also co-hosted the CMT Canada series CMT Central and was a judge on the television series CMT Chevy Karaoke Star. Mahood partnered with W. Brett Wilson to form BPM Entertainment in 2005 and bought out his interest in 2012. Mahood released her debut studio album Girl Out of the Ordinary in 1998. She has also released the albums Moody Blue in 2004, Have a Little Faith in 2006, This Christmas Celebrate Me Home and Unmistakable in 2008, and Hope and Gasoline in 2013. She has had many singles on the Canadian country chart including “Girl Out of the Ordinary” and “Radio 101”.
