Anu Aga is an Indian businesswoman and social worker who has a net worth of $800 million. Anu Aga was born in Mumbai, India in August 1942. Aga graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai with a B.A. in Economics. She was a Fullbright Scholar and graduated from Tata Institute of Social Sciences studying medical and psychiatric social work.

In 1985 she started her career with Thermax where she would head their human resources department from 1991 to 1996. After her husband Rohinton Aga passed away Anu took over as Chairperson of Thermax. She retired in 2004 and was succeeded by her daughter and the company vice-chairperson Meher Pudumjee. Since then Anu remained on the company’s board of directors and has stayed involved in social work. Aga was listed as one of the eight richest Indian women and was part of the 40 Richest Indians by net worth list by Forbes magazine in 2007. Aga was awarded the Mumbai Women of the Decade Achievers Award by ALL Ladies League. She was awarded the Padma Shri for Social Work by the Government of India in 2010. Anu is the current Chairperson of Teach For India and was nominated to the Upper House of Indian Parliament in 2012 by President Pratibha Patil.
