He played for Weymouth from 1984 to 1985 and for Southampton from 1985 to 1988. Andy Townsend played for Norwich City from 1988 to 1990 and for Chelsea from 1990 to 1993. He played for Aston Villa from 1993 to 1997 and Middlesbrough from 1997 to 1999 and finished his career with West Bromwich Albion from 1999 to 2000. He finished his career with 52 goals in 638 games.
