Alfonso Yuchengco was a prominent Filipino businessman, CPA, FEU alumnus, educator and diplomat who had a net worth of $705 million at the time of his death in 2017. Alfonso Yuchengco headed up the Yuchengco Group of Companies, one of the largest family-owned business conglomerates in the Philippines.

He was the Chairman of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, one of the largest commercial banks in the Philippines and also the Chairman of the Mapúa Institute of Technology, a leading engineering school in the country. Yuchengco was the Chairman of the Yuchengco Group of Companies and the Chairman of the Board of MICO Equities, Inc. (holding company of the Malayan Group of Insurance Companies); Pan Malayan Management and Investment Corporation; Mapúa Institute of Technology; Nippon Life Insurance Company; and the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation. Yuchengco holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Accountancy from the Far Eastern University. He passed the licensure examinations for certified public accountants in the Philippines. Yuchengco established the Yuchengco Center for East Asia at La Salle University in 1994 to strengthen awareness and understanding of the Philippines’ northeast and southeast Asian neighbors. Through his AY Foundation, he has initiated many programs designed to benefit underprivileged communities. Alfonso Yuchengco died on April 15, 2017 at the age of 94.
