Alan Macfarlane is a British author, historian, anthropologist and a professor who has a net worth of $60 million. Alan Macfarlane was born on December 1942 in Assam, India. He started his formal education at Sedberg School in Yorkshire. Later he enrolled at Oxford University where he studied history and then went to London University to study anthropology.

There he earned his Master and Doctor’s degrees. After he completed his formal education he started working at King’s College as a senior research fellow. Next, he became a lecturer and then a professor of anthropology at the Cambridge University. In 1986 he was introduced as a fellow at the British Academy. Currently he is holding the position of full-time professor of Anthropology Science at King’s College. In his fruitful career, he has penned around twenty books. He has been writing extensively on English history as well as on the history of Japan, China, and Nepal. His books are largely based on his field research he has done in the respected regions throughout the years. Aside from the books, he has written innumerable articles for various science magazines. Even though that he has conducted extensive field research in manifold regions worldwide as his most distinctive work is regarded the one about Gurung people in Nepal. During his field research, he had recorded many videos and placed them for public viewing on the internet. His YouTube channel is full of videos and interview from almost every place in which he have worked or conducted some research. In December 2000 he joined Mark Turin, fellow anthropologist, in the making of the Digital Himalaya Project. He also took active participation in the world oral literature project.
