Alan Macfarlane is a British author, historian, anthropologist and a professor who has a net worth of $60 million. Alan Macfarlane was born on December 1942 in Assam, India. He started his formal education at Sedberg School in Yorkshire. Later he enrolled at Oxford University where he studied history and then went to London University to study anthropology.

He has been writing extensively on English history as well as on the history of Japan, China, and Nepal. Even though that he has conducted extensive field research in manifold regions worldwide as his most distinctive work is regarded the one about Gurung people in Nepal.
