Trevor Rees-Jones is an American entrepreneur who has a net worth of $5.4 billion. He has built up a vast fortune as founder and chairman of Chief Oil & Gas, which has been drilling and producing clean natural gas for more than a decade. Prior to becoming involved in the energy business, Rees-Jones graduated from Dartmouth College and took a J.D.

From Southern Methodist University. He went on to work as a bankruptcy attorney in Dallas, thus practicing oil and gas reorganization law with Thompson & Knight. It was at this period that Rees-Jones started to pursue oil and gas investments. In 1994, he founded Chief Oil & Gas, whose initial holdings of natural gas were developed in the core areas of the Barnett Shale in Tarrant County, Denton County and Parker County. Having evolved over the years the company now has some 125 employees and it’s the main source of Trevor’s wealth. In addition to the above, Rees-Jones has also proved to be a great philanthropist and generous donor. He was the one to give $1 million to American Crossroads in 2010, as well as to make a large donation to Parkland Memorial Hospital’s campaign for its new facility, among other things.
