John Hargreaves is an English businessman who has a net worth of $1.95 billion. Hargreaves acquired his net worth as the founder and chairman of the chain Matalan, a large UK out-of-town discount clothing and homeware. A son of a laborer, Hargreaves left school at 14 to earn money for living.
Starting on a market stall, this Liverpool native was a sixteen years old when he went into the retail business and opened the first Matalan store in Preston in 1985. Today, Matalan has over 200 stores throughout the UK and employs over 16,000 people.
