Tarvaris Jackson was born in 1983 in Montgomery, Alabama where he played high school football at Sidney Lanier High School. Tarvaris Jackson enrolled at the University of Arkansas in 2001 and played three games for the Razorbacks his freshman year before a season ending injury earned him a medical redshirt for the year. In his 2002 season, Tarvaris Jackson played in eight games, completing 14 of 39 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown. In 2003, Tarvaris Jackson transferred to Alabama State University where he led his team to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division title and a berth in the conference championship game. By his senior season in 2005, Tarvaris Jackson was the Alabama State team captain and a second-team All-SWAC selection.

Tarvaris Jackson was selected with the 64th overall pick in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Jackson was the Vikings’ reserve quarterback for more of the period from 2006-2010 with the exception of the 2007 season when he was the starting quarterback. Tarvaris Jackson was signed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011 to be their starting quarterback, was traded to the Buffalo Bills in 2012, and back to the Seahawks in 2013. He was Russell Wilson’s backup quarterback during the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory over the Denver Broncos in February 2014.
